Xuan & Jonathan

Xuan and Jon first approached me back in Mid-March inquiring about my wedding packages, and excited to get to know their story and meet them face-to-face, I started to coordinate a meet-up. Problem was, I was in studying abroad in London at the time, and they were actually living Houston, Texas! So after brainstorming with the time-zone difference, our first official meeting was through Skype to discuss the wedding taking place in sunny California. Although not my ideal first meet-up through a computer screen, I could tell that Jon and Xuan were my ideal couple! After that initial talk, I couldn’t have been more excited to be working with them on their special day.

Through our countless emails and during the actual wedding day, I started to see how Xuan and Jon complimented each other; both calm and composed when planning a hectic wedding day, and both full of life when it comes to the dance floor! Both with a sense of humor and filled with love for each other, I can’t wait to share highlights of their wedding day with all of you!

The lighting at the hotel room was gorgeous, and I just HAD to take advantage of it! This wedding featured beautiful greys and cool tones with pops of warm coral.

Before having Xuan get into the dress, we took some shots of her and her bridesmaids with their robes.

As the Bridesmaids were preparing for the rest of the day, the groomsmen were getting ready in another room...potentially with liquor as well. ;)

The Catholic Ceremony was held at a beautiful Church, and it was full of emotion and wisdom:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13:4 - 8; 13

With a grassy area off to the side from the reception, there was just enough diffused lighting from the trees that provided a perfect place for us to shoot. Xuan and the bridesmaids looked STUNNING in their portraits, and the guys were spunky with theirs!

Originally we were going to take the Bridal Party Portraits at Brand Park, but with the photo restrictions, we've decided to change it to just the Bride and Groom the last minute. Xuan and Jon were both incredible in being flexible and patient with this new plan despite our time constraints, all while killing it in their portraits!

The other gem location for portraits was at the helipad on top of the hotel, and the hotel manager was nice enough to let us shoot there for a short amount of time! Both posing like PROS, Xuan and Jon made the most of the 15 minutes we had:

After Jon and Xuan asked for a multiplicity photo during our email consultations, we got creative during the wedding day!

Ear pulling: A cute inside joke these two have, based off the Vietnamese Culture.

A big thank you to the wedding planner Rosie, who made these ballroom details picture perfect!

Along with the speeches, father-daughter and mother-son dance, cake-cutting, and bouquet/garter toss, Xuan and Jon also prepared a heartwarming thank-you-speech for everyone who came. With spirits high and the night young, everyone went all out on the dance floor like there was no tomorrow.

It was a dream of a day, and both me and my second shooter Megan felt so honored to be the ones capturing it. Thank you Xuan and Jon again for letting us be a part of your special day.

P.S. - I'm sure many of you heard of Hurricane Harvey, and I have such a heavy heart knowing that Xuan and Jon are dealing with this tragedy right now. Praying for their wellbeing and having donated, any amount here would be helpful.
