With the warm embrace of golden, autumnal marigold and ginkgo details, I had the most wonderful time photographing K&J’s 250 guest celebration on a beautiful Fall weekend in sunny California! Paired with a Jain and Hindu ceremony and a joyful sangeet filled with dance, this weekend was a perfect blend of tradition and artistry.
Friday | Sangeet | Dances of Legacy
The Friday night before, K&J celebrated with a Sangeet that was a beautiful tribute to connection and legacy. K’s mother, who introduced her to dance at a young age, joined her on the floor for a deeply meaningful performance, alongside dances with friends who have walked with her through every chapter of life. Interspersed with heartfelt speeches from family members, the night ended with bites from Chaat Bhavan, the perfect fuel for more dancing and for the celebrations still to come at their main ceremony on Saturday.
Saturday | Wedding Day | A Nod to UMich
Although their love story officially began in San Francisco, it traces back to their connection at the University of Michigan. Subtle nods to that journey were thoughtfully woven throughout the wedding day, from a UMich flag leading the baraat, to their signature cocktail “Mich’d Connection,” to heartfelt speeches recalling Saturdays spent watching football together, it was a heartfelt tribute to the long arc of a love that was always finding its way home. With handwritten notes for every guest, it was so easy to feel the love shared generously with everyone in the room.
K&J, congratulations to you both. It was such an honor to witness and document a love that feels so grounded and full of joy...and it’s one we won’t ever forget.
